ERROR #12 in SHARE_HELP_mount()

3.2.8

This error may be reported by different log files: Into archive log you can find  this:

2012-08-09 10:36:53.796 00002 1 – ARCH> — ERROR 12 in connect_application_folder()

while into core log you can find this:

2012-08-09 10:37:04.582 00002 1 – SHARE> — ERROR #12 in SHARE_HELP_mount()

This error is related to problems ASM service meets accessing to its repository or accessing to import/export folders, when these ones are located on an external unit (NAS) or on a remote machine (share on another host).

Solution

Remote repository

Verify that ASM access configuration to the remote repository is correct into the Configuration > System > Archive tab of the ASM administration. You can refer to this white paper to know whether the configuration is correct. Pay attention to the suggestion to use, for remote access, an account (local on the remote unit) reserved exclusively to ASM.

Import/export folders
Verify that ASM import/export folders configuration is correct into the Configuration > System > Import/export tab of the ASM administration.
A wrong path of these folders may occur for example after an ASM migration if you changed ASM installation path (old folders path settings are replaced when ASM database is restored). This error occurs even if import and export features are disabled (having a wrong path configured).
However, solution is quite simple: you need to enable import/export settings, if disabled, and then correct the paths. Once paths are correct, imports/exports can be disabled again.
